I just posted about Home Depot’s 2015 holiday cordless power tool combo kit promo, and felt that one particular deal was worthy of a separate post. Read on and you’ll see why.
Milwaukee’s latest M18 Fuel hammer drill and impact driver combo kit (2897-22) is out now, and features the brand’s latest and greatest brushless hammer drill and brushless impact driver. These are both incredible tools, and although I haven’t done head-to-head comparisons yet, Milwaukee says these are the highest performing tools of their kind on the market.
The price for the combo is steep – $399, but that’s reasonable considering you’re getting 2 premium tools, 2 XC 5.0Ah battery packs, a standard multi-voltage charger, and a hard carrying case.
The hammer drill/driver delivers up to 1200 in-lbs of torque, and the impact driver up to 1800 in-lbs. Plus, the impact driver has its 3 speed and torque settings, plus that new special self-tapping screw 4th mode.
In order to get a $150 discount, you have to buy something else. The discount is then applied to the whole order. Unless there’s something in particular that you want to buy, say another cordless kit, an add-on tool, or more batteries, you should buy the M18 power source.
The M18 power source is only $29, and it is a great accessory to keep around. It can be used to power Milwaukee’s M12 heated jackets with M18 Li-ion battery packs, but also has a USB charging port.
If there’s nothing else that you want from the additional tool list that you must pick from, the M18 power source is the cheapest accessory that’ll still get you the $150 discount. It comes in handy, but it’s priced low enough to give away to a buddy or thrown into your tool bag for just-in-case occasional usage.
On the road and away from an AC outlet or vehicle charging port? Pop the M18 power source onto an M18 Li-ion battery, and it’ll juice up your smartphone or tablet. It’s not too quick for charging tablets, but can recharge smartphone batteries at a respectable rate.
There’s also an M12 power source for $30, and a couple of other add-on options under $50, but if you’re going to buy something extra just to get the discount, the M18 power source offers most when it comes to unexpected functionality.
I expect that Home Depot is stocking many more of the M18 Fuel combo kits than the M18 power source accessory. Since Milwaukee’s M18 Fuel kits rarely go on sale, I figured it’s better to post about this deal price now, rather than later, in case the power source is indeed in shorter supply and sells out quickly.

There are sometimes free tool promos, but this is one of very few rare occasions where there’s a sizable monetary discount.
