Milwaukee came out with a new ball bearing tool storage combo last spring, and it sold out rather quickly. Extremely quickly.
I believe it came back in stock at some point, and noticed a bump-up in price when it returned, and it still sold out quickly. After that, it was simply gone from Home Depot’s website.
I don’t think that these were ever in stock long enough for any my local Home Depot stores to put even one out on display.
Now, it’s back in stock (online only), and at the lower introductory price as a “special buy.” I can only imagine how long it’ll stay in stock this time around. I think it will sell out quickly, and if so it might be 4-6 months before being restocked, similar to what we saw this year.
Here’s a closer look at the Milwaukee tool storage combo’s features, along with some hands-on first impressions. This was at Milwaukee’s media event last June. They recently sent me a combo for testing and review, and I hope to have even more feedback for you soon.
Overall, it’s a very thoughtful design. While it’s not the *best* tool storage unit I’ve seen, it offers incredible value and level of quality for the money. Plus there are all those handy features that provide for an excellent user experience.
You’re not going to find anything better for $700, or at least I am reasonably convinced of this.
I generally don’t like to urge the purchase of anything, but if this is on your wishlist or shopping list, BUY IT NOW.
Milwaukee had a couple of months ahead of Father’s Day to build up inventory, and they still sold out really fast. They’ve had a couple of months since then to build up holiday stock, but I think a quick sell-out is pretty much guaranteed this time around as well.
Price: $698
Buy Now(Combo via Home Depot)
Home delivery for the combo is estimated to be $55 for my zip code.
You can also buy the components separately, but they really work best together. The combo is “online only,” but the separate chest and cabinet pieces are available at some Home Depot locations.

Each of the Home Depot locations near me have (3) chests and (3) cabinets in stock. The price of the separate components have returned to $299 and $399, for a similar combined price of $698. Over the summer, the prices were $349 and $449.
I don’t think this will be like the yellow Dewalt ball bearing combo that was massively discounted the first week of December. I think this combo is much more likely to sell out.
Speaking of Dewalt, their newest ball bearing tool storage combo, which you can read about in our Dewalt media event hand and mechanics tool coverage, poses very strong competition. It costs a little more, and has a different drawer configuration, and might be a little more heavy duty. We’ll be reviewing this unit as well.
