A couple of days ago, I saw that Dewalt ToughSystem 2.0 shallow tool trays were now in stock at retailers.
Dear Dewalt, would be able to send over review samples? I asked my PR contact. These trays looked interesting, and I have a couple of ways I want to test them out for ToolGuyd content.
But while they look interesting, I wasn’t prepared to buy any – they’re not that interesting with respect to suiting my workshop needs and preferences.
At that time, they were $10 each, or a 4-pack for $40.
Now, I see that you can buy 2 for $15, or 3 for $20.
3 for $20? That comes out to be ~$6.67 each.
Hm… at less than $7 each, they’re a whole lot more interesting! Maybe I could put this in a tool box drawer as a removable tray/organizer. Do you see the slots inside the tray? That’s for creating your own custom inserts and dividers.
$20 for 3? And they stack together? And as a bonus they can be used inside ToughSystem tool boxes for creating custom hand tool or parts trays?
AND you get free shipping with no minimum, making this trio of organizers $20 shipped?
I just ordered a pack. Yes, it’s silly since review samples are on the way, but I can’t pass this up! I’ll also play around with the ones Dewalt’s sending over – although it might be some time since inventory levels.
There is also a deep tray, but those are all sold out on Home Depot’s website. I ordered just one pack of shallow trays just now. If they don’t sell out quickly, I’ll likely buy a second pack – I would have done that now, but I don’t want to hog them all for myself.
If the front recess (handle?) is deep enough, these might even be great for a DIY tray container box, where they can be treated as removable drawers.
What would you use these for?
Do you agree that $20 for 3 is a great price?
As much as they look very well designed for ToughSystem 2.0 tool boxes, I feel a bit guilty knowing that there is maybe a 90% change I use these for something else.
