Last year I asked if you guys wanted a ToolGuyd forum.

A lot of you said no, some of you basically said “ok, I guess.” But since then, I’ve received occasional direct and indirect requests for a ToolGuyd community forum.

I’ve been asked to create posts where deal tips can be posted. I’ve been asked for places where images could be shared. And I’ve seen a number of instances where commenters have shared useful information, but in completely unrelated posts because there were no other places for it.

I have also been receiving more emails than ever before, and I cannot quickly enough turn them into posts. A lot of these are great tips, reader reviews, questions, or recommendation requests that deserve great answers.

It’s still my goal to answer each and every question, but I unfortunately haven’t able to achieve a 100% answer rate for some time. And for those that I am able to answer, my responses aren’t as prompt as I would like them to be.

Having a public place for readers’ questions would also help them get quicker community answers without having to wait for me to post about it first.

And so, I spent part of the weekend setting up a ToolGuyd discussion forum.

Here it is!

It needs some work – and fresh content.

The ToolGuyd Tool Talk forum is based on very non-traditional forum software. For instance, you can “drag and drop” or paste images directly into posts (there’s a 250kb cap for now), and there is a unique trust system where more active members receive elevated permissions. Moderation is a community task, but I can always step in if/when needed.

There’s also the option for logging in with your Google, Twitter, or Facebook info, but I haven’t enabled that yet. I can if this is something you want.

Give it a try (if you’d like), and we’ll see how things go. Maybe there will be a giveaway later in the week to help things get started.

I’ll create a few topics to get things going, but won’t divert too much time away from typical ToolGuyd content and coverage.
