Dewalt DS450 ToughSystem Wheeled ToolBox

Over in the ToolGuyd forum, Szymon surprised me with a post about this new Dewalt ToughSystem DS450 wheeled tool box.

Just the other day someone asked about whether the Ridgid Pro rolling tool box was available at other dealers, since their employer couldn’t order from Home Depot. I mentioned the Dewalt ToughSystem as an alternative, but that they lacked a rolling tool box.

Until now!

There’s not much information available just yet, but we do know the important bits.

As part of the Dewalt ToughSystem lineup, the new DS450 has heavy duty metal latches, and you can stack and latch additional boxes right on top of it. There are off-road-looking wheels with a wide and stable stance.

I can’t tell if the handle extends and collapses, but it doesn’t look to. There’s a top handle to the box, so maybe it can be removed? Can the square tubing of the handle be used with the same brackets as the larger carrier cart?

There are a lot of questions, but some certainties. For one, the $59 price is quite appealing. We’ll know more once when it’s officially announced or released.

Model DS250, Part no. DWST08250

Price: $59 (subject to change)

And if you have not yet checked out our 5 Hot New Tools from Dewalt’s Media Event post, definitely take a quick loose. Dewalt is coming out with a ToughSystem wall mount system!

First Thoughts

We’ll share more as we get more info. I am a big fan of Dewalt ToughSystem products, and have high expectations for this roller cart and tool box combo. You lose some tool storage volume due to the wheels – just look at the bottom rear of the tool box – but you get a convenient handle.

As someone who has had to lug fully loaded large and x-large Dewalt ToughSystem cases around, I am glad to see a built-in cart option.

And that yellow thingie built into the bottom of the long handle? It looks like that’s for holding the tool box open via the top handle. That would be sweet!

Thank you to Szymon for the heads-up!
