Home Depot is offering a new Klein Tools electrical tool bundle for the 2016 Black Friday and holiday shopping season.
Okay, so what’s with the shouting in the title? When I came across the display, which can only be found at 1 of the 3 nearest Home Depot locations, I thought it was an okay deal.
It still seemed post-worthy, since a couple of readers have been asking about whether there was a promo Klein tool set for this year.
And then, when I started outlining the post and pricing out the components, I was surprised at how great of a deal this really is.

The special Klein tool assortment isn’t available online yet, and I only found it at one nearby Home Depot location so far. Maybe it’ll be more available later this month.
The set seems to be centered around the new multi-size nut driver, but I think the lineman’s style side-cutting pliers are the star.
These J2000-9NE 9-inch Klein Journeyman pliers are said to have a high leverage and heavy duty design. They definitely look to have upgraded grips compared to my more basic Klein side cutters.
These side cutting pliers retail for $41 and change! That’s what surprised me about this deal – that it includes $41 cutters plus 2 tools for $50.

Next up is the 11054 wire strippers, which can strip solid wire from 8 to 16 AWG, and stranded wire from 10 to 18 AWG.
It also features machine screw cutters, small gripping jaws, and wire cutter. The handles are curved in a typical “Klein Kurve” fashion.
This wire stripper retails for $18 via Amazon, and is around the same price elsewhere.
It wouldn’t be my first choice of wire stripper, but that’s mostly because I need sizes outside of typical residential and construction needs. As you can see in my wire strippers and combo electrical tools post, I’ve got 2 complementary strippers that together cover wire sizes 10 to 30 AWG solid and 12 to 32 AWG stranded.
I also recently bought Klein Romex-style wire stripper (I paid $24, it’s currently $22 via Amazon), and have been pleased with it.
Klein switched suppliers for some or all of their Klein Kurve wire strippers, from using an OEM to now manufacturing them in-house, and I can’t see any downsides.
While I wouldn’t buy this set for just the wire strippers, I’d find a use for them.

You also get Klein’s new 32801 5-in-1 multi-nut driver. This new driver is kind of like a multi-bit screwdriver, but with swappable nut driver bits.
It’s priced at around $22.

This is what the display looks like. I didn’t find it in the holiday tool deals section, it was setup at the rear of a random aisle, possibly for temporary placement or storage.
So for $50, you get 3 usable tools that would separately retail for a little over $80.
The way I see it, this is a great deal for anyone that can use at least 2 of the 3 tools. If you just want the side cutting pliers, then you get the 2 other tools for less than $10 extra.
The pliers and wire stripper are made in the USA, the nut driver is not.
