Over at Amazon, today’s deal of the day features several Mora knives, on sale for up to 50% off.
I’ve written a little about Mora knives before, and the last giveaway was back in 2013. There are a few things to know about these knives.
1. They’re fixed blade knives, that’s all Mora makes.
2. They’re inexpensive.
3. Despite the price they’re darned good knives.
4. They’ve got basic designs, don’t expect bells and whistles.
5. Made in Sweden.
There are a couple of different knives included in this deal. There’s a small utility style knife, and this “Companion” knife which is more aimed at outdoors use. It’s got a 4.1″ stainless steel blade.
I’ve got (at least) one of these around the workshop, and will be ordering 2 more – one as a backup or to give as a gift, and one for trimming outdoor plants. The price is too good to pass up.
These are often prized as lightweight outdoors knives. Although probably not designed for it, I use mine for cutting boxes, wire, cord, and random other tasks I come across. It’s not a stand-in for a conventional utility knife, but has its place in any home or workshop.
If you’ve never tried one of these knives, you can snag one for $8 to $9. There are a few other styles worth looking at, such as a shorter 3.6″ Craftline Pro knife.
The last time I bought one of these Mora Companion knives was in May of 2015, and I spent $15.49. With the price being so good, maybe I should buy some more as gifts. Update: Yep, I bought 5 more.
