It’s been a while since I refreshed the ToolGuyd Top Picks – the 4 hand-picked available-at-Amazon recommendations found at the bottom of every post below the comments section.

Spring weather is hopefully on the way, but that only plays into one of these recommendations.

The rest? Simply recommendable tools that have been in my hand and on my mind recently.

Here’s the most recent top tool picks post, and here’s a list of all of my Top Tool Picks posts. None of my feelings have changed – I’d recommend any and all of those tools in a hearbeat.

I’ll try to update this list more frequently, maybe also moving the ad block above the comments section for a few weeks’ testing instead of where it’s been below.

Fein Starlock Plus MultiMaster

Fein Starlock MultiMaster Start Q FMM350QSL

I posted about the new Bosch-Fein Starlock oscillating multi-tool interface back when it was first announced, and also briefly about Starlock blades and accessories.

Fein MultiMaster oscillating multi-tools are fantastic. I bought one a few years ago from Amazon during one of their holiday season sales.

Fein MultiMaster with Starlock interface? So far from what I’ve seen, it’s the best of the best. Bosch’s Starlock oscillating tool is quite good too.

This “Start” set is currently priced at $184, and comes with the tool, a soft carrying case, and a basic assortment of oscillating multi-tool accessories to start with. It’s the most economical way to get a MultiMaster.

You have your choice between Bosch and Fein Starlock blades. Do any other brands make Starlock blades yet? I haven’t checked in a while.

The tool works with Starlock and Starlock Plus attachments.

If you want a nice case, another set costs around $40 more and also has more cutting blades.

Kershaw Link USA-Made Pocket Knife

Kershaw Link Pocket Knife

The Kershaw Link is a very nice USA-made assisted-opening pocket knife.

It has a 3.25″ blade length, which works well for all-around use. I sometimes prefer smaller knives, but the Link is nicely proportioned.

The Kershaw Leek was my gateway knife. Today, it would probably be the Link. It’s a very good knife (in my opinion of course) for under $40.

There are new styles as well. Here’s a look at the blue-handled one that just came in:

I now have 3 Links in my EDC knife rotation. Kerhsaw sent one over previously and this new blue one, and I bought one.

There are a few different versions, including a less expensive one with a glass-filled nylon handle. I’d recommend spending the few bucks more to get one with an aluminum handle.

Nifty Grabber

3-Foot Yucky Stuff Grabber

Springtime is almost here, which can mean picking up lots of gunk that you wouldn’t want to touch with your hands.

I previously wrote about this 3-foot Nifty Grabber. My favorite use these days? Grabbing a wet paper towel to clear out spider webs.

Hitachi 18V Brushless Triple Hammer Impact Driver

The Hitachi triple anvil impact wrench is my favorite impact driver these days.

It’s smooth, powerful, and maybe it’s my imagination but it seems to be quieter too.

The kit is still priced at $399, which gets you the tool, a charger, hard case, and 2x 3.0Ah compact Li-ion battery packs.
